English Summer School and Camp in Polonezkoy, Istanbul

Information about English Summer School and Camp in Polonezkoy, Istanbul, Turkey by English Language and Culture Programme (ELACP)

The ELACP English summer school and camp opens in Polonezkoy every year in July & August...

Our camp is based in the picturesque village of Polonezkoy, at the Club Adampol Hotel and Alinda Hotel on the outskirts of the city of Istanbul. The hotels are set in acres of green forests and fields, close to a river which flows into the sea. So here we have the calm and serenity of wooded valleys and glades against the backdrop of dramatic mountains, still close enough to the coast for boat rides on the river or a day on the beach. The resort has its own huge outdoor swimming pool with water park, and indoor swimming pools for cooler days and splendid dining and barbeque areas with ample sports facilities and spa. The region is perfect for nature trails and hiking, horse riding, biking.

ELAPC estimates approximately 50 students for 2019. There will be an average of 1 teacher to every 15 students. ELAPC also will have camp counsellors and classroom assistants and a camp manager. The camp will also be served by the hotel manager and staff.

School camp is a utopia for young people, where days are long and sunny, and the laughter and fun never seem to end. At the ELACP summer school camp, learning English and fun is combined, and it is the perfect recipe. This is why our residential programme is called “Have Fun with English”. Some of the most memorable moments of life at school are created on educational trips. Students get out of the cities and into the countryside, to an idyllic place, where they can enjoy fresh air, good food and exercise. They can explore caves and go on mountain walks, face character building challenges, and learn survival skills.

The idea for the ELACP project was conceived by a group of Londoners who are involved in education in the United Kingdom. All of them were educated in the British school system, from primary and secondary school to college and university. The English Language and Culture Project (ELACP) evolved from their idea to merge the experience of the English school camp with English Language tuition and cultural exchange between the UK and other countries.

Within Europe, Great Britain has its own unique culture, a mix of traditional old English customs with modern multicultural influences. This is reflected in the varied background and dialects of its population.

Diversity is valued in the UK, especially in London, and we hope to share this cultural diversity with students who join the ELACP Programme. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic team, with qualified native English Language teachers, supported by tutors, classroom assistants and activities leaders.

Each student will receive 3 hours of formal English language tuition per day taught by a native English speaker. Our activities and excursions are lead by native speakers so students have the opportunity to practice speaking English throughout the entire day! Students spend every moment of the day learning English through activities, conversation and formal tuition.

Every student on the ELACP programme attends English drama classes two hours each day. The students study a popular English play, from a famous English writer, such as Shakespeare or Charles Dickens. They also perform scenes from classical English films, wearing costumes. Some films have complicated musical scenes which the students enjoy learning.

There is a performance on the last day of camp. Parents and friends are invited to attend. These classes are an excellent method of teaching students about English History, Literature and popular culture. It also gives them confidence to speak and sing in English to an audience.

Maybe you are thinking of sending your son or daughter to summer school. We care passionately for our children’s education, because education is one of the greatest keys to success. The summer holiday is an ideal opportunity to gain an extra advantage for your child with our specialist English Language and activity Programme. Our goal is to provide the best of everything for our students.
